HO, HSIAO-MEI In 2010, Ho Hsiao-Mei founded MeimageDance, and has since been acclaimed as “a master of creating surreal imagination”. Her works are known for their diversity, physical exploration, and richly vibrant aesthetic—a fusion of Taiwan’s contemporary vitality and feminine intensity. Through her choreography, Ho probes the body as a vessel of emotion, revealing the most delicate strata of the human spirit. Her signature works—“New Paradise of Silent Island”, “Renaissance of its Ashes”, and “The Lost Limbo”—merge ritual, technology, and local culture. Ho received Taiwan’s National Arts Award in 2016, and founded the Dance Now Asia Festival (DNA) in 2023, dedicated to fostering creative exchange and cultural dialogue among Asian choreographers and dancers. |
| 무용단 소개 | MeimageDance is acclaimed for its innovative blend of choreography, technology, and Asian cultural identity. The company launched the New Choreographer project in 2011, inviting overseas Taiwanese artists to “come home” and create. Since 2023, it has co-founded the Dance Now Asia Festival with Japan and Korea, building cross-Asian dance networks. Its works have been featured at Ars Electronica Festival (Austria), SXSW (USA), Kunstfest Weimar (Germany), Roppongi Art Night, Theatre Olympics (Japan) and Düsseldorf Internationale Tanzmesse NRW (Germany), marking MeimageDance as a vibrant force in contemporary Asian dance. |
| 작품내용 | “Renaissance of its Ashes_ Prologue” situates the contemporary body at the threshold between two worldviews. On one side lies the embodied memory inherited from Taiwanese Taoist rituals—walking, crossing boundaries, moving between the realms of yin and yang. On the other is the spiritual journey depicted by Renaissance artists such as Hieronymus Bosch: a tripartite cosmos of Heaven, Judgment, and Hell. When this spiritual cartography intersects with the embodied pathways of Taiwanese ritual practice, the work unveils a cross-cultural vision of the soul’s migration. |
